In the 24 hours ending 8-30 a.m. on Wednesday, Vettikkadu recorded 91.8 mm rainfall followed by Kurungulam 49, Neivasal Thenpathy 48.8, Orathanad 40.3, Vallam 39, Tiruvaiyaru 35, Adirampattinam 31.4, Kumbakonam 30, Thanjavur 28.2, Manjalaru 25.6, Tiruvidaimarudur 19.2, Grand Anicut 16.8, Papanasam 16, Tirukkattupalli 15.6, Lower Anicut 13.8, Ayyampettai 11, and Eachanviduthi 8.4 mm.

Widespread showers in the district brought some much needed relief from the summer heat over the past couple of days. Kattumavadi registered the maximum rainfall of 68 mm during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
