Mobile library to reach out to readers in remote locations

The mobile library for Erode district was launched on Saturday as part of the 48th National Library Week celebrations.

Environment Minister Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam commissioned the library in the presence of District Collector S. Prabakar, District Revenue Officer R. Satheesh, Erode MP S. Selvakumara Chinnaiyan, MLAs and other dignitaries.

Appointed

The District Central Library, 85 branch libraries, 97 rural libraries, and 33 part-time libraries have a collection of books worth Rs. 6.5 crore, the Minister said, after launching the mobile library intended to reach out to aged persons and home makers. During the last three years, 94 librarians have been appointed, he said.
