Minister’s effigy burnt

A group of DMK functionaries burnt an effigy of Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture Minister K. Pandiarajan near his residence in Anna Nagar on Wednesday, condemning certain remarks he had made against DMK leader M.K. Stalin.

The Minister had reportedly made the adverse remarks while responding to the DMK leader’s statement about his getting arrested under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act. Mr. Pandiarajan drew flak on social media and from DMK cadre over his remarks.

No plaint yet

On Wednesday, DMK functionaries, led by office-bearer Paramasivam from Anna Nagar, burnt the Minister’s effigy near his residence. When contacted, the police said they were yet to receive a complaint, and action would be taken once a complaint was filed.
