“Let there be many cyclones. Interior districts like Dindigul receive rain only during cyclones,” Forest Minister Dindigul Sreenivasan said here on Saturday.
Addressing mediapersons, the Minister said that tanks and dams in Dindigul district — his native — had received copious water only after Cyclone Gaja struck.
After a brief pause, he added: “Let there be more such cyclones.”
Requesting them not to take the statement seriously, an AIADMK MLA said the Minister was known for making such remarks.
