Minister inaugurates two police outposts


Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare S Sundararaj inaugurated two police outposts at the entry points of Paramakudi on Friday for better maintenance of peace and law and order in the communally sensitive town.

The police outposts, each at a cost of Rs.9 lakh, were built with the Minister’s MLA constituency development fund and located at Krishna theatre and Mani Nagar the entry points to Paramakudi town.

The outposts with ground and first floor could be the best outposts in the State as they were located on vantage points with many facilities and would help the police in maintaining round the clock surveillance and vehicle check up, Superintendent of Police N.M. Mylvahanan said.

The outposts, in addition to the existing police stations in the Town, Taluk and Emaneswaram would be very useful to the police to maintain law and order and ensure peace, especially during the Immanuel Sekaran death anniversary on September 11 and Thevar Jayanthi on October 30, the SP said.

He said the outposts with CCTV camera facilities would be extremely useful for crowd management, providing bandobust and mount surveillance on all those who enter the town from both the ends.

Addressing the function, the Minister said the two outposts would go a long way in bringing lasting peace to the town. He proposed to release more funds to create additional facilities such as rest rooms for police in the outposts, he said. A total of six Sub Inspectors of Police and 12 constables would be on duty in three shifts in the two police outposts, he said.
