The State should immediately take steps to meet the demands of the Co-optex employees and ensure that products from the concern are sold en masse during Pongal, Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan said.

In a statement, he said the State should ensure that the 7% increase in wages that should have been implemented in July 2018 is given.

“If the sales are decreasing, the government should take steps to increase them, than just closing the shops and decreasing employee count,” Mr. Vasan said.

He said the government should have analysed the reason for low sales and should have addressed the issue.
