Terming the controversial order “one-sided,” the brother of the 22-year-old Lakshmi (name changed) has raised apprehensions that the convict would marry his sister only to come out of jail and would eventually divorce her to marry his relative.

Speaking to  The Hindu  over phone, Parthiban said, “The order is one-sided. If he marries my sister, it will be short-lived. He will marry to satisfy the court and get a lesser punishment or come out of jail. But, we are 100 per cent sure that he will eventually get a divorce from my sister.”

Mr. Parthiban was disturbed over the fact that a convicted person could still come out of jail after committing a rape “consciously”.

“How can he come out for talks? For the last seven years, my sister has been punished by him. So, let him be punished in prison for the seven years. If he still says he wants to marry her, then we shall get her married to him,” says Parthiban, who has resolved to support his sister.

Though Mr. Parthiban is quite upset that his sister’s case has been a topic of debate across the country, he said, “I hope this case becomes a lesson to all and rape cases are dealt with sternly.”
