Mediapersons from Kerala and Tamil Nadu were not allowed to accompany the Supreme Court-appointed committee to the dam site on Monday. The police said committee members had asked them to prevent the press from both the States.

As usual, Kerala forest officials did not allow Tamil Nadu PWD officials to carry plastic chairs to the dam site for officials to sit in the conference hall, citing ban on use of plastic items. Several officials representing Kerala and Tamil Nadu had to be standing in the meeting hall.

The committee members, Tamil Nadu PWD secretary N.S. Palaniappan and Kerala Irrigation Secretary K.J. Kurian, TN Dam Safety Director S. Meenakshisundaram and PWD workshop Superintending Engineer G. Rajendran accompanied the chairman.

Heavy rain lashed the dam site on Monday.
