MDMK hails NGT’s verdict

Cadres of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) hailed the National Green Tribunal’s verdict on permitting to desilt the Srivaikuntam dam in Tuticorin district, here on Friday evening. The NGT ordered that the State government could take up desilting works in the dam on June 11, if the Ministry of Environment and Forest did not permit execution of the desilting work until June 10.

S. Joel, district secretary of MDMK, moved the tribunal citing that the dam had not been desilted ever since it was constructed.
