A 60-year-old man, his wife and granddaughter allegedly attempted to end their lives over a civil dispute at Thiruneipper on Monday.

Sources said Pakkirisamy had entered into an agreement with Dhanapal in connection with the purchase of a piece of land in 2002.

However, when Pakkirisamy asked Dhanapal to register the land in his name, Dhanapal had asked him to pay the money according to the current market price.

Pakkirisamy is said to have believed that Dhanapal was being instigated by some villagers.

So, Pakkirisamy, his wife and granddaughter consumed pesticide to end their lives.

They were admitted to Tiruvarur Medical College Hospital.

The health condition of all the three persons was stable, according to sources.

The Tiruvarur Taluk police have registered a case in this connection.
