Man sentenced to life for murdering wife

The Mahila Court in Nagercoil awarded life sentence to a man and slapped Rs.25,000 fine for murdering his wife on Tuesday. Sasi (40) of Vazhavilai near Padmanabhapuram allegedly murdered his wife S. Jothi (36) in July 2013.

Jothi was missing from her mother’s house in Indira Nagar near Chungankadai on July 7, 2013 and her body was found in Nedungulam on July 16, 2013.

Initially the Eraniel police registered a case of unnatural death and later changed it to a murder case after post mortem.

After an investigation, Eraniel police arrested Sasi and registered a murder case.

Hearing the case, Mahila Court Judge A. Muthu Saradha awarded life sentence and slapped a fine of Rs. 25,000 on Sasi.

Sasi had to undergo two years imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine, the judge said.
