A 41-year-old man allegedly killed his nine-year-old daughter and later committed suicide by jumping into a well in Vettambadi here on Friday night. The seven-year-old girl, who was also given poison, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Namakkal.
V. Saravanan was working as an assistant to a poultry owner. He was married to Sumitha (31), who runs a beauty parlour, and had two children, Tharika and Dharani. Due to family dispute, his wife went to her parent’s home on Friday. Upset over it, Saravanan mixed poison in milk and gave it to the children and left home on Friday night. Saravanan’s brother Natarajan found Tharika dead, while Dharani was battling for life.
Relatives and the police searched for Saravanan, and found his body in a well in the area on Saturday morning. The Fire and Rescue Services personnel recovered the body and sent for post-mortem examination to the Government District Headquarters Hospital in Namakkal. The Namakkal police have registered a case.
