Low pressure in Bay of Bengal expected to intensify into a depression

The low pressure over the Southeast of Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a depression over the next 24 hours starting at 08.30 today, Met office said here on Tuesday.

“A low pressure area has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on December one and now lies as a well marked low pressure area over Southwest and South East Bay of Bengal and may concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours”, a weather bulletin said.

Few places in Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep received rainfall during the last 24 hours as per the observations recorded at 8.30 am today.

As per the forecast valid till the morning of December 4, the Met office said rain or thundershower was expected to occur at many places over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at a few places Lakshadweep and Coastal Karnataka.

For Chennai, the sky condition is expected to be generally cloudy while few spells of rainfall or thundershower would occur, it said.
