Lok Adalat: 773 cases resolved

As many as 773 cases including 36 motor accident claim cases were resolved through mediation at the Lok Adalat conducted in all the five courts in Kanyakumari district on Saturday.

Lok Adalats were held in Nagercoil, Boothapandi, Padmanabhapuam, Kuzhithurai and Eraniel courts in Kanyakumari district.

Sources in the District Legal Services Authority said that the total compensation awarded was Rs. 1,79,91,500 including compensation of Rs. 79,79,581 for motor accident claim cases. A total of 1,838 cases had been listed before the seven benches in the Adalat in five courts. This was the fourth mega Lok Adalat conducted as part of the nation-wide initiative.

With this, the total number of cases resolved in four mega Adalats conducted from February this year were 1,882 and Rs. 5,28,52,755 was awarded as compensation. S. Raju, Principal Sub Judge, Nagercoil along with N. Chengamalai Selvan, Forest Judge inaugurated the Lok Adalat. The next Lok Adalat will be held on July 11.
