Life term for two

The Second Additional District Judge A. Naseema Banu sentenced two persons to undergo life imprisonment for abducting a man and attempting to extort money from his family members.

According to prosecution, Tamizharasan (31) of Attukkadu in the city, Ramachandran (43) of Mettur, and Kannan (24), also of city invited Muthamilselvan, an electrician of Perambalur district, to Salem for getting some clarification.

They abducted Muthamilselvan from the new bus stand in Salem city on October 12, 2010.

They harassed Muthamilselvan, and asked his father to pay a ransom of Rs. 10 lakh for his release.

When the case was progressing, Kannan died.

Ms. Naseema Banu slapped a fine of Rs. 2,000 too on them.
