DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday said that since his health condition would not allow him to campaign in the election directly, he would make use of other avenues to convey his message.
“In the campaign we should confine ourselves to proving our secular credentials and the issue of who should get the majority. Let us not indulge in mudslinging,” Mr. Karunanidhi said while addressing the leaders of alliance and friendly parties.
He said that the DMK alliance in Tamil Nadu would continue to be called Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) even though the Congress is no longer part of the arrangement.
“The alliance will be called Jananayaka Murpokku Kootani (Democratic Progressive Alliance) as you wish,” he said.
Mr. Karunanidhi said that effective coordination and cohesion would be ensured among alliance partners at all levels and leaders of the parties would be invited for election campaign, depending on convenience.
