Let all buses go through Vallam, say villagers

October 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THANJAVUR:

A section of the public from Vallam petitioned the Collector N. Subbaiyan urging that all buses between Thanjavur and Tiruchi touch their place.

In a memorandum submitted to the district administration here on Monday, they claimed that most of the buses skipped Vallam and prefer bypass road.

So, they had to wait for prolonged period at Vallam bus stand. Even at the Thanjavur New Bus Stand, crew of Tiruchi-bound buses do not take on board Vallam passengers who had to suffer due to the indifference of the TNSTC and private crew. They urged the administration to ensure that all buses passed through Vallam on either direction.

They threatened to stage a stir on the National Highway if their “genuine” demand was not met.

A group of transgenders presented a memorandum to Dr. Subbaiyan seeking free house site pattas to 65 of their community living in Sengipatti and Kumbakonam.

They sought a special voters enrolment camp.
