The Women Lawyers' Association on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Madras High Court urging the Centre to support the US-backed resolution at the United Nations Human Rights Council against Sri Lanka for its atrocities against Tamils.

Led by its president D. Prasanna, the association on Thursday had adopted a resolution stating that the killings of Tamil women and children during the last stage of the war against the LTTE amounted to human rights violation. The Centre should back the resolution against Sri Lanka.

The Tamil Nadu Advocates Association, led by its president S. Prabakaran, at its special general body meeting urged India to support the resolution.
