‘Law and order in Tamil Nadu has steadily deteriorated’

January 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

Law and order in Tamil Nadu has steadily deteriorated with the administration being paralysed, G. Ramakrishnan, State secretary of CPI (M), said here on Thursday.

He accused the government of failing to keep its promise to maintain law and order. While scores of problems were faced by government servants, the State government remained silent. The government could have convened a tripartite meeting to avert the transport strike. While all parties had been voicing their protest against the methane extraction project in the delta region, the ruling party was silent on this issue. He said the State government should clearly spell out its stand for scrapping the methane project.

Mr. Ramakrishnan said that the BJP could never gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu as an alternative political force. He said jallikattu was a traditional sport of valour and should be allowed in Tamil Nadu.
