Mohan (25), a labourer of Arakkonam was kidnapped by a gang near Polachiamman Temple in Arakkonam and murdered near Arakkonam on Monday evening.
According to police sources, Mohan and his friend Balaji (23) of Nehruji Nagar in Arakkonam were talking near the temple, when a gang of about six persons came there in two motorcycles and picked up a quarrel with them.
This led to blows with both the groups attacking each other. Suddenly, a member of the gang stabbed Balaji who suffered bleeding injuries. Before the neighbours could come to his rescue, the gang kidnapped Mohan and fled in the two-wheelers.
Balaji was admitted to the Government Hospital, Arakkonam where he was enquired by the police. Later, he was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai.
Mohan who was found dumped in a farm land near Arakkonam with severe injuries in the abdomen was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi GGH, Chennai where he was declared brought dead. After post-mortem, his body was brought to Arakkonam on Tuesday.
The Arakkonam Town Police are on the lookout for the culprits. The motive for the murder is not yet known.
