The first unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project will start generating 500 MW by November and 1,000 MW by December, Electricity Minister Natham R. Viswanathan told the Assembly on Tuesday.

Responding to a query raised by the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi leader, M.H. Jawahirullah, he said that the nuclear plant was generating 200 MW of power to start with when it was stopped for inspection.

Once again, the nuclear power project unit had started generating power and the plant had been synchronised with the power grid, Mr. Viswanathan said.
