Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi on Saturday advocated cultural activities, including performance by the Police Band, at the Chunnambar Boat House to raise the profile of the already popular tourist destination besides increasing revenue.
During the inspection, her 61st weekend review visit to various spots in the city, Ms. Bedi stated that the Raj Nivas would sponsor volunteering performers to give recitals at the Boat House. “Frequent culturals at the boat house will be an added attraction and will augment revenue for the corporation,” Ms. Bedi told officials. She also directed the officials to commence sunrise cruises through re-distribution of available staff.
The Lt. Governor appreciated the Managing Director and his team for having attended to the observations made during the last visit such as sprucing up the place, disposing scrap and landscaping. However, she wanted the Boat House complex to be maintained clean and orderly by involving in-house staff and also called for optimal utilisation of resources by putting to use the rooms and the theatre.
The Lt. Governor has slated a follow-up visit to the place after four weeks.
