The family members of Kasturi (58) of Moongileri village near Vinnampalli in Katpadi taluk who went to Saudi Arabia through an agent in Tiruvannamalai to work as a maid servant in a house there in July this year have petitioned to the Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal to take urgent steps to rescue her from the alleged torture she is suffering at the hands of her house owner and initiate steps through the Indian Embassy to bring her back to India.

In the petition submitted to the Collector during the weekly public grievances redressal day camp at the Collectorate here on Monday, M. Mohan, son of Kasturi said that his mother had lodged a complaint with the Indian Embassy and the local police in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia that she was subjected to heavy work load and torture. She demanded of the house owner to pay the arrears of two months’ salary saying that she wanted to return to India. The family members heard through a source that, angered at the demand, the house owner along with four other goons had cut her hand, and that she has been admitted to the Kingdom Hospital in Riyadh.

Under these circumstances, the family members urged the Collector to take immediate steps to rescue Kasturi and bring her back to her native place by taking up the matter with the Government of India and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.
