One person was killed while three others suffered serious injuries in a multiple vehicle collision involving a private bus, two-wheelers and a hydraulic crane near Karuppur on the Salem – Bangalore National Highway here on Sunday night.
The police said that the private bus was on its way to Dharmapuri from Salem.
While nearing Government Engineering College, the bus hit the crane moving in the front. In the impact, the crane veered off the road and jumped the lane and hit two motorcycles coming in the opposite direction. One person died on the spot, while three others, who suffered serious injuries were admitted to a private hospital in the city. Doctors said that their condition is critical. Their identity is yet to be known as the police are investigating.
