‘Karisal Thiraivizha’ to commence today


The 11th edition of the three-day ‘Karisal Thiraivizha’, to be organised by Mano Media Club of the Department of Communication, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, will commence on the university premises at Abhishekapatti near here on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, P. Govindaraju, Head of the Department, said that the annual event would provide a platform for more than 500 students from southern States to showcase their talents in a range of competitions being organised with the objective of honing their skills as a journalist of modern era. Actor Yugi Sethu and film director Kathiravan would inaugurate the three-day event, address the participants and interact with the students. A. John De Britto, Registrar, MSU, would inaugurate ‘Karisal Thiraivizha’. Photographer Henk Oochappan (Belgium) and documentary filmmaker Ruban Lagattolla (Syria) would also interact with the students.

“Each competition to be organised as part of the festival will concentrate on developing the skills required in the media industry,” Dr. Govindaraju added.
