M.S. Balakrishna, who was the judge of the Special Court trying the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and others, is learnt to have expressed his unwillingness to continue in the post for completing the trial.
Mr. Balakrishna retired from judicial service on September 30 and the Karnataka High Court, in anticipation of his retirement, in the last week of September issued a notification as per existing procedure appointing G.B. Mudigoudar, judge of the Special Court on fake stamps cases to hold concurrent charge of the Special Court for the disproportionate assets case against Ms. Jayalalithaa.
Official sources said Mr. Balakrishna had submitted a letter expressing that he was not in a position to continue due to “personal reasons.”
