Job exchanges: court notice on writ plea

March 29, 2012 01:02 am | Updated 01:02 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court on Monday ordered notice on a writ petition seeking a direction to the authorities to delete the names of persons who were allowed to be transferred from various employment exchanges in Andhra Pradesh to employment exchanges in Tamil Nadu.

The petitioners also sought a consequent direction to the authorities to appoint candidates like him who had registered themselves with the employment exchanges in Tamil Nadu as Telugu language teachers in government middle/high and higher secondary schools.

The petitioner, R.Nagaraj, said he was a graduate in Mathematics with B.Ed in Telugu medium. He had registered his name with the employment exchange at Krishnagiri in January 2002. The other petitioner, K.Jayaram, was a Chemistry graduate in Telugu medium and had also registered himself with the employment exchange at Krishnagiri in February 2001.

In the petition, filed through counsel K.Balu, the petitioners said in recent times employment exchanges in Krishnagiri, Vellore, Tiruvallur and Chennai were accommodating persons from Andhra Pradesh. In the neighbouring State, the age limit for appointment was 35 years. After waiting till the age of 35 and taking advantage of the fact that there was no age limit for appointment of teachers in Tamil Nadu, candidates from Andhra Pradesh get their names transferred to various employment exchanges in Tamil Nadu by getting their names included in family cards.
