Jewellery, cash robbed at knifepoint


An unidentified gang entered the house of a financier in VIP Nagar in Tiruchengode and decamped with 35 sovereigns gold jewellery and Rs. 2 lakh in cash here.

The police said that Kailasanathan (44) was residing with his sister Krishnaveni (46), parents Chinnasamy (65) and Paavayiee (60).

On Sunday, he left home to a temple in Dindigul.

The family members heard someone knocking at the door and opened it. Four persons barged into the house, threatened them at knifepoint and tied their hands.

They took the jewellery and cash and fled after locking the house. On his return, Kailasanathan rescued them.

On information, Tiruchengode DSP Vishnupriya inspected the spot. Sniffer dog and fingerprint experts were pressed into service.

A case was registered and three special teams were formed to nab the accused.
