Jayalalithaa declares assets valued at Rs. 51 crore

Movable and immovable assets owned by AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa are worth over Rs.51 crore (Rs.51,40,67,979). Her movable assets have been valued at Rs.13,03,27,979 and immovable assets, Rs.38,37,40,000.

In the affidavit she furnished before the Returning Officer on Thursday along with the nomination papers to contest the Assembly election from Srirangam constituency, Ms. Jayalalithaa stated that she had Rs.25,000 cash in hand; five vehicles worth Rs.8,35,000 (1980 model Ambassador car – Rs.10,000; 2000 model LMV omni bus – Rs.2 lakh; 2000 model LMV motor car – Rs.2 lakh; 2000 model LMV omni bus – Rs.2 lakh, and 2001 model LMV omni bus – Rs.2, 25,000); bank balance of Rs.8,324 and Rs.48,850 in separate accounts in Indian Overseas Bank; and Rs.17,668 and Rs.3,43,137 balance in separate accounts in Bank of India.

The affidavit states that bank deposits amounting to Rs.2 crore and investment in shares worth Rs.50,000 have been seized by the police and given to the custody of the court (C.C. No. 208 of 2004 is pending) and the details were not known to the deponent.

As a partner, Ms. Jayalalithaa has invested in four firms: Shri Jaya Publications – Rs.8,50,00,000; Sasi Enterprises – Rs.75,00,000; Kodanad Estate – Rs.65,00,000; and Royal Valley Floritech Exports – Rs.10,90,00,000.

The former Chief Minister owns two pieces of agricultural land measuring 14.50 acres and 3.45 acres in Andhra Pradesh with approximate market value of Rs.11,25,00,000 and Rs.5,00,000. The guideline value of four commercial buildings she owns in Chennai and Hyderabad have put at Rs.3,02,40,000, Rs. 3,50,00,000, Rs.4,00,000 and Rs.35,00,000.

Approximate current market value of her Poes Garden residential building on around 10 grounds is Rs.20,16,00,000.

There are no liabilities/ dues to public finance institutions and government. The income tax and wealth tax returns have been filed up to assessment year 2010-11. The income tax assessments have been completed up to assessment year 2008-09. For financial year 2009-10, Ms. Jayalalithaa has shown a total income of Rs.15,39,030 (excluding income exempt from tax).
