Inspection of schools begins

The Education Department has begun inspection of all private schools here to verify reimbursement claims towards admissions made under RTE Act.

Over 10 teams have been deputed to inspect 286 schools. Each team consists of four members. V. Tamilarasu, Chief Education Officer, said that the inspections were check reimbursement claims of the schools.

He said that in the last two academic years, schools had not fulfilled the mandatory provisioning of 25 per cent of the total seats under the Act stating that students had not approached them.

The inspections that commenced on Tuesday is expected be continue up to June 18.

On Tuesday, 50 schools were inspected by the teams.Parents can contact the office of the Assistant Education Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Education Officer, and the Inspector of Matriculation Schools, if they have any complaints regarding admission.
