dies in hospital
A labourer, who was injured in a road accident at Chokkampatti in the district on Tuesday, died at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.
Police said a speeding car ploughed into a group of people at Chokkampatti bus stop on Tuesday evening. As Arumugam (60), Muthaiah (55) and Ganesan (49), all labourers from Chokkampatti, sustained grievous injuries in the mishap, they were rushed to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital after first-aid at Kadayanallur Government Hospital. While Muthaiah succumbed to injuries on Wednesday, the other two victims are under treatment.
Chokkampatti police have arrested car driver Durai.
