‘Indradhanush’ special camps planned

October 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - PERAMBALUR:

Children and pregnant women who have not been covered under Mission Indradhanush, an immunisation programme initiated by the Centre, would be covered through special camps to be held in the district for seven days from Wednesday.

Universal immunisation of all unreached children under the age of two is being taken up on a mission mode under the programme.

Mission Indradhanush, depicting seven colours of the rainbow, aims at covering all those children who are either unvaccinated or are partially vaccinated against seven preventable diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles, and Hepatitis B.

The camps will be held for seven days each from October 7, November 7, December 7, and January 7. On the first day, the camps would be held at the health sub-centres and at the anganwadi centres in the villages on subsequent days. The vaccination would be done at the District Headquarters Government Hospital and all Primary Health Centres on all seven days of the camp, Collector Darez Ahamed said in a release.

The camp will be held in second week of every month for three months
