‘Implement Supreme Court order’

May 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - SALEM:

The Tamil Nadu Retired Government Employees Association (TNRGEA) urged the State Government to sanction the pension arrears of government servants who retired between June 1, 1988, and December 31, 1995 as directed by the Supreme Court.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the state executive committee meeting of the association held here recently.

Another resolution called upon the government to do away with the new pension plan, and revert to the old one. The government should take steps to provide the annual increased salary at the time of retirement of its employees and fix the pension on the basis of it.

The government should merge 50 per cent of the dearness allowance with the salary, fix the minimum pension for the village assistants, noon-meal centre employees, and panchayat assistants at Rs. 3,050 a month, fix the commutation period as 12 years, remove the shortcomings in the Chief Minister’s Extended Health Insurance Scheme, the association said.

The association asked the Centre to introduce a national senior citizens policy immediately.

Association president K. Gangadharan presided over the meeting.
