Illicit liquor seized, destroyed

The Forest personnel seized 120 litres of illicit liquor being smuggled in lorry tyre tubes near Attur and destroyed it on Saturday.

Tip-off

Based on a tip-off that anti-social elements were involved in the production of illicit liquor in the villages bordering Villupuram district and were smuggling the same by head load via Attur reserve forests, a team of forest personnel led by Sirajudeen, forest ranger, conducted surprise check in the reserve forests.

The team spotted six persons carrying lorry tyre tubes filled with illicit liquor.

At the sight of the personnel, the miscreants fled the scene leaving the liquor. The illicit liquor was seized and destroyed.
