Students of Corporation Middle School along SKC Road found their self-esteem enhanced on Friday after receiving identity cards and diaries sponsored by well-wishers of the institution.

Identity cards and diaries have mostly been associated with private English medium schools. Incidentally, there are English medium sections in the Corporation school owing to which enrolment has risen over the last few years.

There are English medium sections for levels I to III, and this year English medium section was started for level VI. As many as 20 students from Matriculation schools were admitted to the Corporation Middle School this year since the Samacheer syllabi is followed everywhere, Headmistress Sumathi said.

At a function graced by the president of Parent-Teacher Association Tharmasivam, School Management Committee president Jegathambal and other functionaries, the sponsors Sangeetha and Payasnesan handed over the diaries and identity cards respectively to the students.

The school has been able to identify sponsors for providing diaries to the students for the third consecutive year. The diaries have reflected well on the students performances as the teachers are able to communicate with the parents on a daily basis. Parents have learnt to monitor completion of home work and other academic activities, Ms. Sumathi said.

Presence of a number of private, government, and government-aided schools within a radius of a few kilometres notwithstanding, the school strength is poised to grow in the coming years, as parents are impressed by the ambience in the school. The classrooms are replete with pictures that stimulates academic activities and the toilets are maintained well. And 100 out of the 140 students, who are beneficiaries of noon meal, also receive all the benefits under scheme.

The school ensures the level of educational quality that parents cannot, perhaps, expect even in private schools.

And free of cost at that, said Ms. Sumathi, citing the instance of an old student of the school emerging first in SSLC as a candidate of the Railway Colony Corporation Higher Secondary School.
