“Films do not interest me any more. I have no time to watch movies,” said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in an interaction with reporters on Thursday, when she explained her position on the controversy surrounding Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam .

Ms. Jayalalithaa, who was a leading film star in the 1960s and 1970s, said she stopped seeing movies years ago. During her earlier tenure as Chief Minister, many film producers and directors invited her to watch their movies and “once in a while, I obliged them if they were friends,” she said adding that they had understood that she was no longer interested in seeing movies.
