July 19, 2019 12:59 am | Updated 12:59 am IST - CHENNAI

An international flower auction centre will be set up at Hosur in Krishnagiri district at a cost of ₹20.20 crore, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami told the Assembly on Thursday.

Making a suo motu statement, he said the climatic conditions favoured cultivation of flowers on 3,702 hectares in the district and they were exported to Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and sold in local markets.

Plea from farmers

The Chief Minister said the local farmers and vendors had made a request for creation of an auction centre and it would have quality control laboratory, cold storage facility, office building and an electronic auction hall.
