Hosur check-post becoming another Walayar

May 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST

Lorries are parked on the flyover at Zuzuvadi check post causing road blocks defeating the purpose of the fly over. Similarly, on the opposite side, lorries are parked in the middle of the road in two or more rows. Will the District administration look into this and an orderly parking is brought about?

The Ashok Leyland and Dharla intersections are a mess where flyovers are overlooked.

It can be named as Mohd Bin Thuglak junction looking at the way the traffic moves here!

Hotel inside

Ooty garden

Thousands of tourists visit Ooty Botanical Garden daily.

They are very eager to eat inside the garden.

Hence the Tourism and Cooperative Department may establish a pucca vegetarian and a non-vegetarian hotel inside the garden and sell food and beverages at a nominal rate in the interest of tourists.

The tourists will be benefited, and revenue will add to the Government exchequer.

Damaged staircases

in courts

Many courts in the Salem District and Sessions Court camps are situated on the first and second floors.

However, the staircases have been damaged and pose hardship to the litigant public. The lifts in the court camps too are not adequate enough.

The State Government should take steps to repair the stairs and also commission more lifts.

Install

street lights

The Nagarmalai Adivaram road towards Glaze Brook School is very dark during night time due to the absence of street lights. The

Corporation should install street lights on this road immediately.

Munsif court

for Omalur

While welcoming the decision of the advocates of Omalur town to withdraw their five-month old strike demanding the setting up of a separate Munsif Court in the town, I wish to state that the agitation was for a just demand. The lone District Judicial Musif-cum-Judicial Magistrate Court functioning in Omalur town since 1914 could not do justice and no doubt cases are piling.

Moreover, it is also fact that more than 75 per cent of the cases dealt by the Mettur Sub-Court, far away from Omalur, pertained to Omalur taluk. When the Madras High Court had already recommended this proposal, why the State Government should adopt delaying tactics?

The Tamil Nadu Government should take steps for setting up separate Munsif Court in Omalur town immediately.

S. Fazil Shariq,

Omalur.

Hardship to

people

Not a single day passes without the employees of one government department or the other holding agitations in front of the collectorates in the western districts to press for their demands.

The agitations by the government employees only cause hardship to the people who come to the government offices for redress their grievances.

The Government should hold negotiations as soon as employees present their demands and try to solve all the just ones as soon as possible.

No street lights

The street lights commissioned on the median on the Tiruvakavundanur bypass road (from the Tiruvakavundanur roundabout to Iswarya Hospital) are not functioning. This causes lot of hardship to the road users.

I request the Corporation to do the needful.

Platform lights

There is no adequate lighting facility at the far end of Platform No. 1 A at Salem Railway Junction.

The people who wait to board the coaches that arrive from Mettur dam and attached to the Salem — Chennai Egmore suffer due to the poor lighting.

The Junction authorities should suitably illuminate this area.

Right on time

Recently, I travelled by the Kacheguda — Madurai weekly express from Salem to Madurai. The train arrived at Salem at the right time and also reached Madurai at its scheduled time.

I congratulate the railways for the same.

I request the railway officials to ensure that the trains are operated to their scheduled timings.

K. Ramani,

Make it

regular

With reference to the letter on the introduction of the Yesvantpur — Rameswaram weekly day time summer special train, I wish to inform that this is a very useful train and the timings are very passenger-friendly. I request the railways to make this a regular service.

Grievances day

meetings

The Corporation grievances day meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays.

But on many occasions, they are being cancelled without prior information to the public. Many a time, the people who visit the Corporation with the petition are disappointed.

The Mayor should make alternative arrangements. If he could not attend the grievances day meeting, he could depute Deputy Mayor or the officials to receive the petition.

Remove

garbage

I thank the police for removing the encroachments near the Suramangalam Uzhavar Sandhai and also preventing the appearance of temporary stalls near the main entrance for the past two weeks. Now the road looks wide and this ensures free flow of traffic.

The Corporation should come forward to remove the garbage piling up near the Uzhavar Sandhai main entrance on a daily basis.

Inadequate

buses

A large number of tourists and the residents of the district throng Yercaud everyday taking advantage of the summer holidays.

But the buses operated by the TNSTC from Salem — Yercaud are not adequate enough. During the weekends, all the buses are over crowded.

The TNSTC should operate additional buses during the weekends.

It should also introduce bus services from Namakkal to Yercaud.

T. Praveen,

Namakkal.
