The Madras High Court Bench here on Monday adjourned to December 2, the hearing on two anticipatory bail applications filed by former Transport Minister K.N. Nehru (59) and two others, apprehending arrest by the Tiruchi City police in two criminal cases.
Justice V. Periyakaruppiah deferred the hearing after Additional Public Prosecutor K.S. Duraipandian gave an oral undertaking to the court that he would instruct the police not to arrest the accused until the disposal of the advance bail applications. The APP also said that the police had registered a First Information Report in only one of the two complaints received by them from the same complainant.
While the complaint lodged with the Government Hospital Police Station in Tiruchi had been taken on file, the other complaint with the Tiruchi City Crime Branch was being probed as a ‘petition enquiry'. In the first complaint, the petitioners were accused of interfering in a loan dispute between the complainant and another individual. The second complaint was under land grab charges.
