Educational institutions did their part to create awareness on wearing helmet by teaming up with Police and Transport Departments to hold rallies.

The Young Indians Students Net joined hands with Perundurai Traffic Police to organise a motorbike rally to highlight the imperative need for wearing helmets while driving two-wheelers. Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Baskaran flagged off the rally in the presence of College Correspondent V.K. Muthusamy and Principal K. Kuppuswami.

At Gobichettipalayam, students of Gobi Arts and Science College took out a rally propagating importance of wearing helmets.  K.P. Jayakumar, Regional Transport Officer, Gobichettipalayam, initiated the rally in the presence of College Principal R. Sellappan.

In the city limits, officials of Transport and Police Departments distributed pamphlets to two-wheeler riders at vantage locations describing the importance of wearing helmets and significance of the High Court directive.

Earlier this month, Madras High Court directed the State Government to make wearing of helmets compulsory for two-wheeler riders and pillion riders.
