Heavy rains lashed different parts of Vellore district, with Tirupattur recording the highest rainfall of 74.1 mm during the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Monday.

After a gap of several days, Vellore city received a heavy downpour of more than an hour on Sunday evening. The showers continued till midnight.

The rainfall recorded (in mm) in other parts of the district during the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Monday are: Arcot 42.8, Melalathur 22.4, Walajapet 14, Vellore 11.6, Vaniyambadi 8.8, Ambur 8.2 and Gudiyatham 5.2.
