The office of the Deputy Director of Medical, Rural Health Services and Family Welfare has completed the formalities of handing over the old premises in the Government Headquarters Hospital campus after moving to the new building at Thindal during the second week of September.
The two-floored building constructed at a cost of Rs. 45 lakh was inaugurated through video-conferencing by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
The office started functioning from the new building on the very next day of its commissioning, P. Balusamy said.
The old office was not big enough to accommodate 36 employees. Now, there are separate sections for second-level officers including District Malaria Officer, District Maternal and Child Health Officer, a separate computer room, a store room for keeping stocks of vaccines, a record room, and a conference hall where meetings are being conducted conveniently.
There is also sufficient parking space on the premises where construction work was initiated during 2013-14.
