A Division Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday imposed costs of ₹25,000 on a woman, who had been restrained by a single judge from making false allegations of victimisation against retired Director-General of Police S.R. Jangid.

Justices R. Subbiah and T. Krishnavalli dismissed an original side appeal preferred by V. Vidya and directed her to pay the costs to the Chief Justice’s Relief Fund and report compliance before the court within four weeks.

The judges held that the appellant had wasted valuable time of the court by filing an appeal despite the single judge having clarified very clearly that he was restraining her only from making “false” allegations against the former DGP.
