Hajj draw to be held

on January 11

The Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee has proposed to conduct qurrah (draw of lots) for selection of pilgrims for Hajj 2019 on January 11. The qurrah would be held at 10.30 am at Anaikar Abdul Shukoor Auditorium, The New College, Royapettah in Chennai, an official release stated. The Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee has received 6,379 (including 8 infants) applications from those intending to go on pilgrimage. The Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, requested the Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee to conduct qurrah for selection the pilgrims on January 11.

The State government has sanctioned ₹6 crore as subsidy to Tamil Nadu pilgrims.

The intending pilgrims, who have applied for Hajj 2019 through Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee, may attend the qurrah and make it successful,” it added.
