GVMCH doctor elected as senate member

E. Theranirajan, head of department, Paediatrics, Government Vellore Medical College Hospital (GVMCH), has been elected as senate member of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

Usha Sadasivam, GVMCH dean, said each medical college had two members in the Senate, one being the dean of the institution. Election is held for electing the second member from the institution.

Accordingly, the election was held on Tuesday in which Dr. Theranirajan and Rajavelu, a professor of general surgery, contested.

Dr. Theranirajan won the election on obtaining 78 votes out of 150 votes polled. He will serve as senate member representing GVMCH for a term of three years.
