Govt. school wins overall championship

Students of the Government School at Kasipalayam won the overall championship in the Youth Carnival organised by the Rotary Clubs of Dindigul Fort and Queen City in Dindigul recently.

For the first time, the club had organised the carnival exclusively for students in government schools in and around Dindigul to bring out their hidden talents. More than 400 students took part in several competitions.

Students from various schools in Dindigul district excelled in the 29{+t}{+h}Tamil Nadu State-level junior field and track competition held in Coimbatore recently.

S. Ajay Sharma (NSVV School) won silver medal in 1500 m, A. Tharun Raj (SMBM School) clinched silver medal in shot putt, M. Santhosh and S. Karthik (MSP School) bagged bronze in high jump and javelin throw respectively and girls’ team — S. Priya, M. Dharini, V. Gayathri and B. Chithra — won bronze in relay race.

A 11-year-old boy S. Yaswanth Sanjay won the gold medal under the sub-junior category in the second State-level Kungfu competition held in Madurai recently.
