Hi-tech LED facility will be used to screen short films to create awareness

The hi-tech LED van launched by the State Government to screen short films on government schemes hit the roads in Cuddalore district.

According to official sources, as many as 32 hi-tech LED publicity vans costing Rs. 20.80 crore have been allotted to all the districts in the State to screen short films and achievements of the government.

Each custom made van is fitted with a LED screen of 15.75 feet width and 6.25 feet height which will travel to rural areas and places of public congregation and create awareness on various schemes of the government. It would be used in government functions, exhibitions, festivals and market places and at places where people gather in large numbers.

The LED screen mounted on the top of the vehicle can be elevated up to a height of 6 feet and rotated up to 360 degrees for viewing. The short films can be viewed both during day time and night hours.

Latest vehicle tracking equipment and surveillance camera have also been installed in this vehicle to help the officials at Chennai headquarters of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations to monitor the vehicle movement and the public response at places where the films are screened.

An official in the Department of Information and Publicity said that detailed guidelines and programme would be issued by the Directorate to cover the entire district.

The vehicle will be used during festivals and other important occasions to reach out to the people and create awareness among them about their rights and benefits of various schemes. The LED van is equipped with DTH and Wi-Fi facilities. Commercial Taxes Minister M.C. Sampath and Collector S. Suresh Kumar viewed short films screened on the vehicle at Sri Padaleeswarar Temple at Thirupathiripuliyur in Cuddalore district.
