The Tamil Nadu Government has allotted Rs.59.8 lakh as grant for setting up of 160 Country Chicken Farms (CCFs) in the district.

Tiruvannamalai is one of the districts identified by the government as to be suitable to set up CCFs in the State a few years ago.

As a result CCFs are being set up in the district since 2012-13 fiscal. These farms are found to be augmenting revenue of medium farmers and hence government decided to continue the grant given for setting up of CCFs in district for 2015-16.

Cost of setting up a shed for a CCF with a capacity to accommodate 250 chickens is estimated to be Rs.1,29,000. Government would give 25 per cent of this amount ie. Rs.32,375 as grant to those willing to set up the farm from their own investment.

For those willing to set up the farm with bank loan, Nabard would give Back End Subsidy through the bank that lends to the particular farmer.

The farmer can claim the subsidy by submitting relevant documents to the bank.

Those willing to get the subsidy to set up the farm should have land either in his/her name or in the name of one of his/her family members. There should be no legal issues over the land where the applicant plans to set up the farm.

Interested people may contact Assistant Veterinary Officer in the nearest Veterinary Dispensary and get the application form. The filled in form should be enclosed with photo of the applicant, document copy of the land, copies of revenue documents such as chitta, adangal, provisional sanction from the bank in case of applicant looking for loan and photocopy of ration card.

The filled forms should be returned before June 30.
