Goondas Act invoked

The police on Wednesday invoked the Goondas Act against S. Prabhu (33) of Attayampatty who has been arrested recently while trying to rob a person at knife point at Attayampatty.

Goondas Act has been invoked against five persons who were involved in robbery, and one person involved in damaging houses and crops. were detained under the Goondas Act here on Wednesday.

They were: L. Yuvaraj (27), K. Gowtham (24), B. Karthick (25), M. Ramu alias Ramachandran (24) and A. Somasundaram (22), all native of Komarapalayam who waylaid T. Sakthivel (29), a cashier at a private company in Aruvankadu, and his friend Yuvaraj Pandiyan, and robbed Rs. 8,36,040 from them at knife point; from a nationalised bank and were on their way to the company in a two-wheeler.

Goondas Act was invoked against N. Mathiyalagan (48) of Paramathi Velur who destroyed plantain, and street lights during a clash at a temple festival. He was arrested on May 6.
