More than 1,300 unemployed youths, including about 500 women, participated in the job fair organised jointly by the Mahalir Thittam and Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM) in the city on Tuesday.
The fair was organised for the unemployed youths of the blocs of Salam, Veerapandi, Tharamangalam and Panaimarathupatti.
According to the organisers, about 20 reputed concerns, including Ramco Cement, Eureka Forbes, Shahi Exports, Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), V. Technologies, participated in the fair. About 600 candidates were provisionally selected, an official of the TNSRLM said.
S. Easwaran, Project Director, TNSRLM, inaugurated the camp.
It has been planned to invite more companies such as Chemplast, MALCO (The Madras Aluminium Company Limited) for the next job fair planned at The Cauvery Engineering College, Mecheri, on January 9 for the benefit of the candidates of Kolathur, Mecheri and Nagavalli blocks, he said.
439 candidates
receive offer letters
As many as 439 candidates were given offer letters at the job mela held at Government Arts and Science College at Andalur Gate here on Tuesday.
The mela was organised by Pudhu Vazhvu Project and Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission in which more than 20 private companies from Erode, Coimbatore and Chennai participated.
